The chance of a natural blackjack

The blackjack probability of getting a natural (ace + ten) from your first two cards is about 4.8% – roughly one hand in 21. Because it pays 3:2, the payout rule matters so much to the house edge. Calculation: 4/52 × 16/51 + 16/52 × 4/51 ≈ 4.83%. A best blackjack odds game keeps that 3:2 payout.

Why streaks are an illusion

Cards have no memory, so "streaks" are just chance within chance. Over 21 hands, ~4.8% naturals is the expected value, but each hand is independent. That is why "due" systems fail. It changes only if you count cards – because without replacement, the shoe's odds shift with every card dealt.
